Situated in the centrally located Vista Lobos complex in Playa Blanca, only a 20 mins walk into town and 10 mins to the nearest beach – playa Flamingo & restaurants.
As you enter the villa you will be in the light filled, upper-level hallway, this level has the modern fitted kitchen with all mod cons, including dishwasher and large fridge freezer. This leads to the interior airy and bright dining area with seats for 8. This dining area has patio doors leading onto the wrap-round upper balcony and a further al fresco dining area.
On this same level is the master suite with king size bed, air-con, fitted wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with access through the patio door to the same upper balcony. There is a further double bedroom at the back of the house, again with air-con unit and family bathroom.
Making your way down the open plan staircase you’ll arrive in the entertainment area, with pool table and bar area with its own drink’s fridge. At the other end of the space is the large comfortable sofa with huge TV offering all the channels you might need including movies sport etc. For the cozy feel there is even an ultramodern electric fire.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Familia. It was our first holiday with our 7 month old, and we came home with wonderful memories. The villa was lovely. Spacious, with all the things you'd need inside and in a great location for getting out and about. We did have an issue with ants on our first night, abd they got into our babys formula milk which meant a whole packet went to waste but someone came over quickly and sorted the problem. The only real negative was the outside space. There was almost no shade for most of the day, which wasn't ideal with a baby as it meant someone had to stay inside with him. We were told there was a parasol but on arrival we couldn't find it and when we enquired were told it had been stolen and a new one wouldn't arrive for a month. Understand that is out of their control. However, most of the other properties had a roof to the raised patio area and I think the villa would really benefit from this. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely consider returning!

The villa itself was spectacular. Absolutely loads of space and well appointed. Kids spend half the holiday in the pool. The only slight downside was the close proximity to the road. It wasn’t a problem for me but my husband was a bit disappointed by the background noise. It wasn’t a safety concern though if you’re worried about young kids. There is a secure gate and no one can see into the pool from the road so it still felt quite private. It wasn’t overlooked by the other villas which was a plus for me.

The villa is a beautiful property, especially if you're sharing with friends/family. The ability to very effectively give everyone their own space made a great holiday even better. The location is also deceptively good as you are a ten minute walk from the main shopping area of Playa Blanca, a short walk from bus stops for the main circular bus route and, if you have access to a car, it's a very short drive to local amenities and LZ2 should you wish to explore Lanzarote. The pool, the pool table and the enormous TV also mean that it's easy to keep children (of all ages) entertained. There are also a number of small touches, the downstairs mini fridge for example, that make it an excellent choice for families or larger groups (four or more). However, as noted in some of the other reviews there are a few drawbacks. Being on a main road means the traffic noise can be distracting but the main concern would be the lack of outside cover - there was a single parasol. It means that the lovely outdoor dining and coffee/barbeque areas can't be used to their fullest extent. There's no shade on hot days, no shelter from evening breezes and on the occasional rainy days nowhere to sit and enjoy what will still likely be a pleasantly warm day as the rain passes over. The patio heater also not working impacted the ability for older visitors to sit out on cooler evenings and this was compounded by poor external lighting, especially when compared to neighbouring properties. There's also some wear and tear, notably the "star" light in the TV area (still broken on departure, 5 weeks later), the pool table needs some TLC and I had to ask for some bulbs to be replaced as they had blown prior to arrival and presumably missed by any pre-hire checks. There was also some confusion with the schedule for pool cleaning and changing of towels and bedding.- this led to a number of emails and WhatsApp messages having to be exchanged on a weekly basis over the course of the stay. Little things that were detrimental on a long stay. I would also suggest that the villa would benefit from the following: A handrail at the pool steps, the first step into the pool was a challenge for everyone (and two of the party were fit and experienced divers), fitting a "privacy" door at the side passage (similar to other villas in the complex), and a ramp at the rear door on to the main road for parties with prams/buggies or wheelchairs/scooters (appreciate this may not be possible as it's outside the villa). Finally, I'd like to call out Carolina and Liz at Retreat Villas, they were enormously helpful throughout the booking process and the entirety of the stay. They were always friendly, professional, courteous and an absolute pleasure to deal with. In short, there are some minor drawbacks, but overall, a stunning place to call home for a while.
